It was in the beginning of the 18th century, when Jean Martell came to Cognac from the Channel Islands, that the Brandy bussiness really broke new ground and expanded over the whole world.

Beskrivelse

– DESTILLIATION: Alcohol seems to have been known to most nations in ancient times, but it was studied scientifically for the first time in France in the Middle Ages by Arnaud de Villeneuve who ascribed to it almost magical properties, such as the power to prolon life. Hence the term “Eau-de-Vie” or water of life. The apparatus employed for distilliation of Brandy was for a long time kept secret and only known to the initiates who devoted themselves to the impenetrable seecrets of alchemy. From revelations made in later years we know that this apparatus followed the models used in ancient times by the Greeks and Arabs.- Uindbundet. – Illustreret. – 35 upaginerede sider. – Pænt eksemplar.
